    • There is a new interface structure to MEETUP.COM maintenance, making changes difficult.
    • Example: Deleting duplicate information for SLACC meetings was hard to do and MIGHT have inadvertently sent cancellation messages.
    • We continue to need someone to help utilize MEETUP.COM resource.
    • Maintenance to MEETUP.COM is not done with scripts. It is user interface intensive. ~ stanr
    • Stan R – Hate the world. Except for chocolate. Should we be on FaceBook or Slack for social media interaction?

Internet Presence on Other Social Media

  • SUMMARY: We presume that our single web site isn't enough to draw younger crowd.
  • 2017-02-27
  • In February 2017 Ken offered to put out a call for help for volunteers to work with us setting up our social media presence.
  • 2017-12-04
    • (Stan R) – Hate the world. Except for chocolate. Should we be on FaceBook or Slack for social media interaction?
  • 2018-06-04
    • Internet Presence on Social Media other than MEETUP.COM site needs to be addressed separately.
    • Transferred other social media issues from Internet Presence to separate stanzas here.
    • We have no presence on FACEBOOK or TWITTER.
    • We have lost control of our presence on GOOGLE+ and YOUTUBE. We don't even know how to count anything there.
    • See counts in the Other Kinda Stuff Report above.

ANNOUNCE Mailing List

  • SUMMARY: The ANNOUNCE mailing is a weekly extract of our SLUUG GOOGLE calendar of events.
  • HISTORY: The subscriber list has been populated from attendance sheets by a nominating subscription process.
  • 2018-04-30 for MAY
    • Stan found himself remiss in nominating attendee email addresses from attendance sheets.
      • Procrastination is ugly. Until this weekend, none of email addresses for all of 2017 were nominated to ANNOUNCE and DISCUSS mailing lists.
      • Suggest we emphasise self registration at each meeting by way of our web resource sign up pages.
      • Print more cards with sign up procedure to hand out at meetings
      • If nobody other than Stan R will build weekly ANNOUNCE mailing, why bother with ANNOUNCE list?
  • 2018-06-04
    • At a few meetings in May we pointed new attendees to self registration by way of our web resource sign up pages.
    • With the transition from AMBER to BOCK we switched to using web pages on BOCK where mailing list sign ups are broken.
    • Magnanimous Mike Knight provided a DNS procedure with local /etc/host which provided a work-around process.
    • Stan R (was able|was not able) to send out the ANNOUNCE mailing using that work-around process.
    • Andrew St Clair wrote a script to help massage ANNOUNCE text; but, GOOGLE changed calendar text structure, negating effort.
    • Gary M never got together with Stan R to see how ANNOUNCE was assembled and deployed (Outstanding action item since 2017-06).

New Business

Any New Business

  • 2018-06-04
    • Thoughts about announcing workshops for summer meetings instead of actual topics. Prevent having to develop presentations. OTOH, would be helpful to have topics for the workshops, so not zero effort.
