      * ABSTRACT: Yes
        * This will be an intro to the Power Tools of Unix Text Manipulation.
        * One of the best things about Unix and Unix like systems is the ability to pipe and redirect plain text from one program to another.
        * Using built in commands you can do many operations such as sorting, counting lines and search for strings in outputs.
        * But what if you want to do more complicated processes, or do these operates on a massive file?
        * That is where the power tools come in. Much as a carpenter has an assortment of tools ranging from hand saws for detail work to lathes, we have access to the power tools of the text processing world.
        * AWK and sed are the power tools of the plain text world. They are able to do massive and complex actions that would take forever by hand.
      * BIO: Yes
      * REMARKS: Was Rescheduled: ( PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED, BUT NOT DONE ) James had agreed to do November; but, offer by Mo came up.  We'd like not to burn out James; so, delayed.

        * CEPH is a distributed network file system designed to provide excellent performance, reliability, and scalability.  CEPH is such a underutilized and misunderstood concept. 
        * I would like to present something like Why CEPH is a skill set that every Unix admin should learn.
        * I can fully bet out the title to be * a little more creative. I don’t want to sell SUSE and SUSE Enterprise Storage, but more of convince Unix admins why a CEPH skill set will be worthwhile in acquiring. Thoughts?

        * Stan R kept expecting to eventually see the nuts and bolts, "Where's the BEEF"?
          * Never fully explained concepts of how CEPH was using objects and metadata.
          * Only memorable point was that at least three servers were necessary to function.
        * Gary M threw out a number of questions trying to extract a more technical presentation.
        * He will be coming back to do an actual demonstration. We expect it to be very informative.

Gary met him at the Red Hat MeetUp held on Jan 15 at Granite City Brewery on Olive. (near WWT who seems to be a major customer.)   
(yyyyyyyyyy :?: was there.  He has been to a number of our mtngs and has just changed jobs from Scott AFB to Boeing.   Possibly we'll see more of him.   Also Jim zzzzzz :?: from Panera Bread.   He is manager of a team and has been to a few of our mtngs.)

Adam said that nite that he may become more active with StL, (and particularly SLUUG).

The current contact for the Red Hat MeetUp in StL is <Robert Proffitt ="Monument, CO , Sr. Solution Architect”> who has been the contact for a few years now.
He seems familiar with a couple StL account customers, particularly WWT.  He's neevr really seemed interested in co-ordinating w SLUUG.  This time he seemed less enthusiastic about the actual mtup then previous trips into town. Perhaps he intends to change his role.   

He generally seems to demur any knowledge or active role in organizing it, deferring to:
