* BASE should be oriented toward simpler Personal Computing. MAIN should be oriented more toward advanced or Enterprise Computing.
* Gary will continue to explore different computer manufacturers (ex: Cray) who might be able to do presentation "Where are they now?"

Server Admin
//SUMMARY: We put up a server on the Internet for email, it grew, and now we have to maintain it.//
* Minutes narratives prior to 2019 have been removed.
*
* 2019-01-02 MINUTES AND CHANGES TO AGENDA FOR THIS MONTH WERE LOST IN SERVER ACCIDENT!
* Lee Lammert and Mike Knight working on SpamAssassin. Extensive plan developed by Mike Knight.
* QUESTION (Stan): Do we have to worry about losing ownership of the stllug.org domains?
* ANSWER
* 2019-02-04
* Lee: Everything's up and running thanks to Mike. New topic: DCC. What is it? Lee has no clue.
* 2019-03-04
* Lee: Server is running.
* ANSWER to previous question re Status of stllug.org: Lee is checking, something looks wonky.
* Lee: Verified this AM, .. stllug.org appears to be forwarding successfully to stllug.sluug.org, which matches the LE cert wild card. Please check for other issues.
* 2019-04-01
* Mike's still working on ClamAV, but too timid to pull switch on ClamAV or SpamAssassin.
* Need consensus that settings are right
* 2019-04-29 (for MAY)
* Gary would love to get a presentation on status of the servers, featuring Mike, Chuck, Lee
* One possibility would be to have Andrew St Claire (or someone else) debrief them and give the presentation
* Another possibility would be Lee could give a presentation on massive data recovery being performed evening of 2019-04-29
* Dave has noticed different handling of possible spam by SLUUG email system, and would like presentation on evolution of the email system.
* Dave & Stan would like long 'spammy' tag not inserted into subject line on SLUUG STEERCOM emails
* From Mike Knight's email 3:31am 2019-04-28:
* 1 QUESTION: Should the "Subject:" of probable sp_m be changed to indicate that?
* ANSWER: no
* 2 QUESTION: Should high scoring sp_m be rejected and returned to sender?
* ANSWER: no
* 3 QUESTION: Should moderate scoring sp_m be moved to a "junk" folder of the member's inbox by the system?
* ANSWER: no
* 2019-06-03
* Lee: It's running. Updates posted.
* 2019-07-01
* Lee: no updates this month. ClamAV & SpamAssassin are running, SA is giving scores, but up to user to decide what to do with them.
* Gary: good that things are running, but would be nice to get a presentation on what is there and what it does. Would be good for everyone to realize what's been done to make things work.
* 2019-08-05
* 2019-08-28
* Lee will be switching our VM to new hardware in the fall.
* 2019-09-30 (for October)
* Mike Knight found issues with ClamAV daemon, and memory/swap shortage. System boot seemed to mostly clear up.
* Lee has Bock virtual instance running on new hardware. Had some trouble transferring large files.
* Lee upgraded Bock virtual host to 32G memory today.
* Gary Meyer was not getting STEERCOM email on his Apple/MAC laptop.
* 2019-11-04
* 2019-12-02
* Lee: System seems to be running smoothly since additional RAM was added to physical host.
* Lee: Reminder that if anyone needs SLUUG critical info, it's stored on BOCK /home/SLUUG
* 2019-12-30 (for January 2020)
* Christmas Day SLUUG certificate would not work with securing email. Did not disrupt web site availability, nor remote SSH access. Mike Knight and Craig Bucheck tackled problem.
* **Successful test completed in September, will repeat in December**
* 2020-02-03
* Our *automated* LetsEncrypt free SSL certificates for websites on BOCK test was successfully completed in September, was to be repeated in December.
* There was a problem Christmas Day with SLUUG certificate holding up email.
* QUESTION: Was this related?
* Mike Knight created and tested some scripts dealing with our LetsEncrypt setup.
* QUESTION: Do we know what happened with SLUUG certificate not working with securing the email on Christmas Day?
* Certificate had expired, was renewed, but IMAP server didn't get restarted to incorporate new cert.
* Now the process is scripted. A post renewal script for LetsEncrypt has been added to restart Courier (IMAP)
* QUESTION: Do we have any documentation on the overall *automated* process for LetsEncrypt free SSL certificates for websites on BOCK?
* Mike Knight is invesigating why SLUUG was being throttled by Google. Possibly something to do with the SLUUG SPF record being regarded as "suspicious" by Google.

Web Site SLUUG.ORG Maintenance
// SUMMARY: We have a traditional Internet presence with the existence of our main SLUUG web site. //
* Minutes narratives prior to 2019 have been removed.
*
* 2019-01-02 MINUTES AND CHANGES TO AGENDA FOR THIS MONTH WERE LOST IN SERVER ACCIDENT!
* Stan R fixed error that kept website from displaying the ATTENDANCE sheets page.
* QUESTION: Are there any other broken pages?
* 2019-02-04
* ANSWER: Not that we know of. There's always one more
* Stan is aware that there's a problem with top menu of main page, and it's not likely to be fixed in a long time.
* 2019-03-04
* 2019-04-01
* 2019-04-29 (for MAY)
* 2019-06-03
* Stan: updated flyer is on the handouts page. Old material removed, added page of helpful links for the newcomer.
* Stan has added a section on the main page with summaries of past meetings. Additional meetings will be added in near future.
* 2019-07-01
* 2019-07-28 Lee: CERT renewed automatically. Performed quarterly
* 2019-08-05
* The SLUUG web page has been expanded with "...a not-for-profit professional 501c(6) association..." introductory narrative description of our organization.
* The SLUUG web page Reference section did not have a link to our SLUUG YouTube channel. This has been corrected.
* All SLUUG web pages were not referencing the other sponsored group web pages. This has been corrected.
* The NEWLUG sub menu "cdrom" files renamed to menu to match up with replacing DVDs with USB thumb drives and eliminate some confusion. Had to hard link NEWLUG "cdrom.html" to "menu.html" because of existing handout link reference. Hard link should NOT be removed.
* All SLUUG web page links to defunct "Google+" changed to link to Mailing Lists.
* The SLUUG web page links to attendance sheets updated.
* The SLUUG web page links to handouts updated. Removed link to ancient and insufficient "Password Guidelines for Beginners" PDF.
* The NEWLUG menu reference to "Password Guidelines for Beginners" PDF replaced with link to Creating Strong Passwords .
* Added new logo with Arch
* 2019-08-28
* Usual.
* 2019-09-30 (for October)
* Stan R realized that he had been using newcomer name while posting, despite that it had not been configured.
* Got assistance from both Lee L and Chuck Doolittle.
* Chuck found misconfiguration after Stan R had altered and reviewed config file 2 dozen going on 3 dozen times.
* Stan R is seeing a lot more messages offering to "fix" our sites from hungry contractors.
* 2019-11-04
* Same as usual. Yesterday DNS issues interfered with doing any maintenance
* 2019-12-02
* Stan R, did routine updating of home pages. Had no time for sorely needed cleanup, documentation, improvements, nor anything else.
* 2019-12-30 (for January 2020)
* 2020-02-03

Web Site MEETUP.COM Maintenance
//SUMMARY: We have presence on MEETUP.COM. //

* Procedure of last couple of months is working; i.e. changing the subject line to reflect current meeting flags the Meetup as having changed.
* 2019-06-03
* Gary mentioned we've been changing the title to get updated on search results. Stan says it's been fixed and now no longer requires title change.
* 2019-07-01

* 2019-09-30 (for October)
* Meetup still sucks. Set SLUUG General Meeting sessions to show our contingency library locations until we settle on new venue.
* 2019-11-04
* 2019-12-02
* Lots of folks have joined, few have attended, even thought they indicate they will show up.
* Continuing to work as expected, limping along.
* Meetup.com continually asks if someone wants to start up a Unix/Linux group because of regional interest. WTF?
* Note to Ken: Can he start "Meetup pending Linux group" and then point it to our group?
* 2019-12-30 (for January 2020)
* All NEWLUG entries for 2020 had to be created. Might have been because of wrong end date.
* 2020-02-03
* Individuals that are not signed in with a MEETUP account do NOT see all of our events in the weekly calendar listings when checking for TECH events.
* We suspect that it might be keyed to how many signed up folks have indicated that they will be attending.
* 2020-03-02
* For Don: be sure we get info for March Wednesday meeting into Meetup.
