    • Joe B. Volunteers to do fix on Michelob, will get together with Gary M.

    • Much discussion of Mike Knight's research and possible work around.
    • Don and Gary did some testing using Apple mail clients, with results showing same problems.
  • 2012-04 Need to run updates on AMBER or plan for alternate virtual install to migrate over.

    • Altho we believed the change would only effect that, unexpectedly, Gary's Apple eMAIL client complained about the certificate on IMAP.

  • 2009-09 Gary Meyer is Captain.

Recording Meetings

  • 2010-12
    • We have a voice recorder (VC) for recording meeting presentations and have posted some results on web site.
    • On 28 Oct Stan R suggested buying an additional VC so that there wouldn't be a single point of failure.
      • We forget who has it.
      • We forget to bring it.
      • We forget to turn it on.
      • We forget fresh batteries.
      • We forget how to turn it on.
      • We forget to free up space on it.
    • There was some STEERCOM list banter but nothing was brought up at 3 November Steering Committee meeting.
    • Alternative of video recording suggested, huge size of video files was mentioned.
    • Stan R passed voice recorder to Gary M on 18 November and doesn't want it back.
    • Noah volunteered an old Digital8 recorder.
  • 2011-01 Continued discussion, but no consensus.
  • 2011-02 Not discussed during IRC meeting.
  • 2011-03 Gary M returned voice recorder to Stan R before going to Florida.
    • Stan R needs to pull February 2011 STLLUG recording and post it (on Amber).
      • And email it to the speaker (Igor Gueths).
  • 2011-04 Stan R passed on voice recorder to Phil Bunch, who should be at next general meeting.
  • 2011-05 Phil B passed voice recorder back to Stan R.
  • 2011-05 Craig suggested getting another voice recorder (or 2), and extra batteries.
  • 2011-06 Jeff wanted to move that we use some of the Novell money to buy a second recorder.
    • Did not have a quorum.
    • Stan R suggested getting one that records in ideally OGG, but failing that, MP3.
      • Either would be better than the current uncompressed format.

    • As long as they do not require Windows drivers.
    • Preferably record in OGG format, or MP3 at the least.

  • 2012-04 Michael Jackson offers to voice record meetings and provide us with sound file.

Web Site Suggestions

  • 2011-01 Mike Knight's emails regarding web site.
    • Stan R changed the copyright dates.
    • Good idea to list other Open Source friendly resources.
      • On a separate page from our own SIGs.
      • Sites like WITS, CVillage, Arch Reactor, 2600.
    • Our site layout has not changed for years.
      • Would take some effort to re-do it, and seems to be working for most people.
  • 2011-02 Stan R hasn't gotten around to building new resources page, yet.

  • 2011-06 There was brief discussion of implementing a CMS at the work party on 5/21. No decisions made.

      • How can we accomplish this? We don't know; so, we appointed Gary M. to find a way.

  • Lee pointed out that advanced users may pull RSS that would not see the "off-Google" lines.

STLLUG Sponsorship Credit

  • STLLUG meetings are now hosted at IT Enterprises, which is affiliated with UMSL.
  • Typically because of meeting space value we recognize host as sponsor on our web pages.
  • Previously, some educational institutions (other than UMSL) did not want to be listed.

  • 2011-01 Stan R suggested putting Hostirian at the bottom of all SIG web sites.

      • Extra cards were given to Gary M for posting on bulletin boards.

STLLUG.ORG domain

  • 2012-03 Gary M renewed the STLLUG.ORG domain.
  • 2012-04 This points to Craig's 2011 membership survey web page. Will redesignate to current active site.

Schools

  • Spring break opportunities to find new blood.
  • 2012-04 spring break over, now facing end of semester testing. Gary M and Jerry S will disseminate propaganda.
  • 2012-05 Gary suggests contacting Truman and St. Louis University Business School
    • Per Gary, he sent emails, no replies yet.

New Pamphlets

  • 2012-04 - Stan R with considerable help from Christine Wanta has produced a pamphlet on Free Open Source Software (FOSS).
    • It should be very complementary to what we hawk at the St. Louis Business Expo Linux Booth.
  • The pamphlet has been added to the SLUUG Resources Handouts page
  • Another pamphlet is planned to highlight our Google calendar and list regular meeting days of the month.
  • Lee suggested a single page calendar poster also.
  • 2012-05 Stan R build new pamphlet for calendar and Free Open Source Software (FOSS).

Moving STLLUG

  • 2012-04 We need to confirm Dr. Lemon's commitment and possibly step up search for new location.
  • 2012-05 Per Stan R, Indian Trails Library Branch Auditorum is available during June to December monthly time slots, but not May.
    • Jerry offering our host ( Dr. Lemon) summer months to skip.
  • Instead of skipping months, Dr. Lemon is going to provide Jerry with access card.
    • We'll hold off on considering a move, or reserving Indian Trails Library Branch Auditorum until we confirm access to projector.

New Business

STCL Room Reservations

  • 2012-05 Stan R made reservations for SLACC and HZWLUG.
    • Checks delivered for SLACC meetings at Thornhill and Bridgeton Trails.

Food and Drink

  • 2012-05 Want more.

New Embedded SIG

  • 2012-05 Lee suggested. Four maybe five folks interested.

Projector

  • 2012-05 We had previously agreed to buy one.
    • Would be great to possibly have a second projector at sites that already provide us with one.
    • ~$500 for WXGA Projector for Embedded SIG and meeting spare
  • Go ahead.

Additional Monitor

  • $200 for USB Monitor for NUI meetings
