    • Ignoring Postfix until he understands our configuration.

    • Need to apply patches for recent vulnerabilities (Glibc, PHP)

    • Need to perform restart to enable kernel updates
    • Need to discuss update to more recent supported OS
    • Andrew proposes a weekend event to update & document the system
    • Perhaps migrate away from a legacy platform
    • Investigate Linnode as new/additional location
    • These concepts will be pursued in an email thread on sysadmin list

Web Site Maintenance

  • Andrew still needs to finish up some stuff.

    • It's a place to find meetings.
    • It does cost money ($12 / month).
    • It helps attendees of similar groups find our group.

    • Craig - Contact Ed Schneider about MEETUP.COM Group creation and maintenance.

  • Current St. Louis Linux Users Group (STLLUG) location is inconvenient, probably turning people off
  • Craig spoke w/ Brian Button about hosting at CenturyLink.
  • Craig spoke w/ Jessie Jackson of SBS Creatix about having her talk to CenturyLink.
  • Venture Cafe will provide free beer for meetings hosted there.
    • They're only open Thursdays from 3 PM to 8 PM.
    • Didn't seem to be much interest from our group.
  • Jessie Jackson has provided Craig's info to a manager at CenturyLink.

St. Louis Linux Users Group for Seniors

  • Stan R. has started up the St. Louis Linux Users Group for Seniors (SLUGS).
    • Asked if we should make it an official SLUUG SIG.
      • Consensus was YES.
  • Monthly meetings scheduled on every 2nd Friday, 1PM~3PM, at St. Louis County Library Prairie Commons Branch.
  • The room fees of $80 have been paid up through August.
    • Stan R. asked if he could be reimbursed for this.
      • Consensus was YES.
  • Initial meeting went well
  • Built a separate web page: http://slugs.sluug.org/

    • Potentially longer meetings subject to discussion with librarian
    • Currently 2 hours, could be 2 1/2 or 3 hours
    • Already paying maximum fee; nothing is on schedule afterwards, so no conflict

St. Louis County Library Book Requests

  • Stan R. requested a book at the St. Louis Count Public Library.
    • Got some members to also make the request.

    • No negative reply yet; so, maybe they're going to buy it.
    • Book is Firewalls Don't Stop Dragons by Carey Parker
    • Andrew L. bought book for Stan R. to read and review
    • Book is MS Windows and Apple OS-X specific step-by-step, otherwise exceptionally good
    • Chapter on passwords exceptionally well written
      • References Steve Gibsons Security Now podcast, among many others
    • Stan R. would recommend to anyone needing help spelling "password"

New Business

Changing SLUUG Corporate Status

  • Ken mentioned that Missouri has 2 kinds of non-profit corporations:
    • Standard corporation
    • Benevolent Corporation
      • Created by a circuit judge
      • No annual fee
      • Runs in perpetuity
      • Would require talking to a lawyer
  • After discussion, decided that current status is sufficient; no change is needed
  • This section should be deleted for April Steercom meeting
