===== Alternative Remote Video Conferencing Services =====
SUMMARY: We don't want to constantly rely on someone else's ZOOM capability and want something with closed captioning ability.
* HISTORY: We have mostly been using DELL's ZOOM sessions.
* 2020-05-04
* Lee visited Chicago LUG - using Big Blue Button (BBB)
* BBB records separate audio, visual, and presentation files.
* How to download recording from server and combine streams into single video stream
* Maybe set up Big Blue Button (BBB) on different hostname for testing
* 2020-06-01
* Lee has set up BBB server. Issues with separate recordings Display, Audio and Whiteboard.
* Stan suggested some frequent weekly testing of alternate Remote Video Conferencing Service packages
* 2020-06-29 for July
* Lee: Jitsi has progressed amazingly the past few months. If Firefox can be kept off, it works pretty well.
* Jitsi End to end encryption is being developed, may be ready for use at this time.
* Gary: Encourage Dave to continue to investigate captioning for various screen sharing platforms.
* 2020-08-03
* 2020-08-31 for September
* Big Blue Button wasn't fully developed. Allows uploading presentation, limited usefulness.
* Zoom labels statements by speaker, Jitsi doesn't
* Webex is non-starter, can't host from Linux.
* Zoom may be $20/mo, plus $20/mo for [cc]
* Chad is our single point of service for Zoom. Need to find another company to give us our own account, or a sponsor to pay $40/month for Zoom plus [cc].
* Stan: Maybe Microsoft would be willing to sponsor us?
* Lee: Google doesn't have non-profit version we could use.
* 2020-10-05
* StanR: Attended today's Jitsi developer monthly open session. Developers claim Firefox is no longer a problem. I don't believe it. No easy way to verify.
* StanR: The LinuxMint team announced on 2 October that they will package Chromium browser (ETA unknown). Will make it easier for LinuxMint users to install.
* LEE: Jitsi is available, …though we need to decide about switching to Zoom basic before mid month/
* That's the renewal on the VPS hosting Jitsi - if we want to switch to Zoom, would like to do it before another charge.
*

* 2020-05-28 Subject: Election voter rolls
* No physical meetings until further notice, we can not use attendance sheets.
* We expect that remote participation should qualify as attendance.
* Therefore we need to record and count remote participation as qualifying attendance.
* Further we need to develop process for voting at our annual February meeting.
* 2020-06-01
* 2020-06-29 for July
* If one of us remembers during the meeting, take a snapshot of the participant list. Experiment with viewing the recording and see if the participant list is available.
* 2020-08-03
* 2020-08-31 for September
* In past we've always posted that ballots could be mailed in, as early as possible.
* 2020-10-05
* Stan R wants to know how we should record attendance once we have combined meetings? Listing both physical and remote numbers might be difficult within this wiki layout.

===== Eliminate Back-To-Back Meetings =====
SUMMARY: Stop any potential Back-To-Back meetings
* HISTORY: During some months the 2nd Wednesday SLUUG meeting is immediately followed the next day by 3rd Thursday STLLUG meeting.
*
* 2020-10-05
* Gary M. posted background and some issues to STEERCOM mailing list.
* We have had some folks grumble that “2 meetings in 2 days is too great a time drain.”
* They’d prefer meetings in different week.
* We have always said that it would be “nice” to have 2-part meetings that were so long they would stretch into a 2nd evening.
* However, I think we have only taken advantage of that a couple times.
* An additional week would allow more time to find the next presentation for the STLLUG meeting.
* Gary spoke with Ken Johnson. Ken concurs that the change won't cause disruption
* By vote, the committee resolved to eliminate back to back meetings from this month forward.
===== Switch to Zoom from Jitsi =====
* Lee already has a Zoom account. Very economical.
* Lee will make arrangements when he's figured out the details, especially [CC].
* Target date is mid month.
===== Anything Else =====
* Do we have anything else new to deal with?
