HZWLUG - August 27

    • Expected coverage of Working with symbolic links not done. Group wanted to go on to VPN.
    • Virtual Private Network (VPN) demonstration by Bryan Venable
      • Usage and configuration complexity was enlightening.

    • Lee has made copies of zone files and we have BIND on amber now as an authoritative server.
    • We should probably make sure buddyns has up-to-date contact info.
  • 2011-12 Michelob is dead.
    • Joe B. Volunteers to do fix on Michelob, will get together with Gary M.
  • 2012-02 Lee installed Webalizer on the new servers, per Stan R's request.

    • Don and Gary did some testing using Apple mail clients, with results showing same problems.

    • Our site layout has not changed for years.
      • Would take some effort to re-do it, and seems to be working for most people.

    • Noticed .PNG file doesn't show up on old county library browsers. Do we have .JPG file anywhere?

  • 2012-04 - Stan R with considerable help from Christine Wanta has produced a pamphlet on Free Open Source Software (FOSS).
    • It should be very complementary to what we hawk at the St. Louis Business Expo Linux Booth.
      • The pamphlet has been added to the SLUUG Resources Handouts page
      • Another pamphlet is planned to highlight our Google calendar and list regular meeting days of the month.
      • Lee suggested a single page calendar poster also.
  • 2012-05 Stan R built new pamphlet for Calendar and Free Open Source Software (FOSS).
  • 2012-06 New pamphlets have been posted to our web site http://www.sluug.org/resources/handouts/

Penguins

  • 2012-09 Gary bought some Penguins and gave one out as gift to STLLUG presenter last month.
  • 2012-10 Gary still has more penguins. Considering giving them away at SBE.
  • 2012-11 Gary will give these out as speaker prizes.
  • 2013-01 Gary still has penguins to give away. Jeff will not give presentation SLUUG 2013/01 without a penguin.
    • Finally, someone got a penguin!

    • It's a place to find meetings.
    • It does cost money ($12 / month).
    • It helps attendees of similar groups find our group.
    • DECISION: We'll ask for volunteers on DISCUSS to "own" the group.
