STLLUG - February 16
Balloting
STLLUG is the St. Louis Linux Users Group.
TOPIC: Comparing Docker Containers in Linux vs MacOS by Mo Hassan of Splunk Inc.
Mo is a field engineer/tech rep for the company's ~"SQL" inquiry language. (Not open src but free for individual, non-commercial user.
He used Docker to make containers for specific apps and implimented them in both MacOS and in Linux.
He found the effort significantly different. Stricter POSIX compliance in MacOS BASH?
Confirmed by Gary Jan 30.
Need to contact local Docker organization to promote this.
Summation: Interesting. Proprietary, but very well done
Stan: concerned about Mo's statement about lack of support for POSIX in Linux, which makes Linux easier to work with than MacOS.
Dave: Presentation was demonstration of using containers to split application into pieces for easier management
Don: Essence was a method to demonstrate application running on multiple servers on tiny footprint.
Need to establish methods for notifying other groups
sLUGs - February 24

Lee and Earnest have exchanged e-mail addresses and will arrange times for him to come in and see the machines and start getting organized.
Gary asked that WHEN POSSIBLE we make the mtngs known on SysAdmin in case others want to join and (re)learn.
