• At least 9-11 SLUUGers went. Attendees =~28 and an additional 4+ SuSE employees.
• They let Gary speak for a few minutes to make the attendees aware that SLUUG and the SuSE/SNUG user group exists and has multiple mtngs per month.
• There was little interest nor questions from non-members and we have not noticed new attendees at the SLUUG mtngs since then.
• The talks were good. ALMOST TOO advanced in that they were using undefined terms, presuming we were familiar.

Did he do one early morn). * __ from Nashville was impressed that our user group was so active and expressed that he comes thru St.L. more often than our Minn.-based tech but we are NOT his territory!

  • TOPIC: Introduction to SQL Server on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server

The next version of Microsoft SQL Server is coming to Linux and is already in preview. In this session, Travis Wright, Principal Program Manager from Microsoft, will provide an introduction to SQL Server and how it runs on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and container platforms. The scope of the first release on Linux and schedule will be covered and deployment, configuration, high availability, storage, and performance/scale will be topics for a more technical drill in. Recorded Feb 15 2017 58 mins.

The sound was understandable and it was good information. As much as we disliked the MS-sftwr, the fact that there is a demand for it by certain customers, it was good to know that it is available to be in containers on SuSE.

  • Next six month StL County Library room reservations were made and paid.

  • Some reservations may have been made with wrong group name (ie. SLACC vs HZWLUG).
  • Thornhill Library Branch will remain open thru June, instead of the previously announced closing for renovation.
  • Prairie Commons Library Branch now open; but, had very limited available dates, with only one room that can be reserved.
  • Only SLACC has consistant day of the month schedule with Thornhill location.
  • The HZWLUG meetings are spread accross Prairie Commons and Indian Trails with variable day of the month dates.

* Not all scheduled dates are on 4th Tuesday of each month; but, they are on Tuesday.

• The sLUGS (StL LUG for Seniors) meetings are spread accross Prairie Commons and Rock Road with variable Friday afternoon dates.

* Not all scheduled dates are on 2nd Friday of each month; but, they are on Friday.

• Some other previously scheduled October, November or December reservations might be moved to Indian Trails, Prairie Commons, or Rock Road.
• Next date for StL County Library room reservations will be first Saturday in April (1 April 2017).
