    • One of the best things about Unix and Unix like systems is the ability to pipe and redirect plain text from one program to another.
    • Using built in commands you can do many operations such as sorting, counting lines and search for strings in outputs.
    • But what if you want to do more complicated processes, or do these operates on a massive file?
    • That is where the power tools come in. Much as a carpenter has an assortment of tools ranging from hand saws for detail work to lathes, we have access to the power tools of the text processing world.
    • AWK and sed are the power tools of the plain text world. They are able to do massive and complex actions that would take forever by hand.

  • SYNOPSIS: Kubernetes is an open-source container-orchestration system for automating deployment, scaling and management of applications. It was originally designed by Google and is now maintained by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation.

  • ABSTRACT: Yes ~ "Taking containers to the next level with orchestration".
    • The next major step in using Containers is to coordinate as many as are needed, discarding any instances not required. This concept is called "orchestration", and can handle from just a few to many thousands of containers, depending on the requirements of the workload.
    • Matt will discuss the problems that the Advanced Technology Center at World Wide Technology faced with application hosting. The pros and cons of using containers and how they deployed Kubernetes to fill in some of the gaps.
